Mixing tools for cleaner transitions and better-shaped buses
Mixing is mostly decisions about geometry — when does this track start, where does the EQ split live, how much should the sidechain duck, which curve shape fits this build-up. These five tools give you the diagrams so you stop making those decisions by ear alone. They won't replace the ear, but they will catch the mistakes your ear misses after hour six of a session.
Mix Point Planner
Two parallel timelines with your planned overlap drawn between them. Computes the exact bar & beat where deck B should drop in, and shows the EQ-split shape of your crossfade (linear / log / EQ-curve) so you can see whether the swap will feel like a smooth wash or a clean cut.
Unique: warns if the transition would end before B's first downbeat, and shows the "EQ handover" — which frequencies each deck owns at the midpoint.
Automation Curve Editor
Drag bezier handles on a canvas to design volume / pan / filter / send curves. Pick a preset shape (linear, exponential, log, S-curve) or sculpt your own. The tool exports the result as a plain-text list of points and as a CSV — drop either into your DAW's automation lane.
Unique: shows the underlying math expression (e.g. y = a + (b - a) * (1 - (1-t)³) for ease-out cubic) so you learn the language of curves, not just the knob.
Filter Sweep Visualiser
Pick a filter type (LP / HP / BP / Notch), a cutoff, a resonance value and a sweep length. Two canvases draw the frequency response (Bode plot) and the gain-over-time curve in real time. Watch how resonance creates an audible peak before the filter self-oscillates.
Unique: suggests a kick-friendly cutoff (≈ BPM / 4 Hz) so your sweep "sits" where the kick lives instead of fighting it.
Gain Staging Helper
Enter an input level and stack the plugin chain — the tool shows a vertical meter strip with cumulative gain through every stage and a red flag if you've stacked enough +dB boosts to clip the master bus. Suggests target ranges per instrument (kick, vocal, bass, master).
Unique: includes a small plugin-trim calculator for parallel / NY-compression paths where the parallel bus usually needs a different level than the dry signal.
Sidechain Ducking Calculator
Set your source level, target reduction, attack and release. The tool draws the duck envelope over time and tells you what percentage of each bar the source will be ducked vs audible. It rates the result on a "pump feel" scale (subtle / pumping / extreme) so beginners know whether their settings match their genre.
Unique: shows the relationship between release time and BPM — if release > 1 beat at 128 BPM, your source will never fully recover before the next kick.
